'Another storm is coming.' The thought only flashed as the shadowy cat stood amongst the shadowy marsh and colored pines, mouth in a gape. Blinking into the bright sunlight, she let out a faint hiss. Clouds flooded the sky, just drifting by and readable to any cat who bothered to take a chance to glance up. It was annoying.
The Medicine Cat found little reason to let such things irritate her, and yet they always did. StarClan always let things in the sky be written quite visably, making the job of finding important signs more and more unappealing. Findings of many things were always one of Moonshard's "strong points" as much as she hated it. Too many things to see, and all of very little meaning.
Less time was left as she began to glide gently through the blackened earth, damp and sucking at her paws but never drawing the she-cat a whisker-length below the surface. Her head swirled around, ears pricked and ghostly yellow eyes intent behind her back.

Diamondstar padded through the forest. She had nothing better to do, and sitting in the camp going around and checking whether all the cats were well-fed, and no other Clans were on their territory was extremely boring in her mind. Diamondstar opened her mouth to scent the air. Another cat's stench flooded her nose and she walked forward towards the source.
"Hello, Moonshard," Diamondstar meowed, coming up behind her medicine cat. "Collecting some herbs?" she asked, picking a flower from the ground, placing it at the medicine cat's feet. "Is this something you need?"

Yellow eyes darted to the ground and back up to her leader's face. `Tansy...` With a quick twitch of her silvery whiskers, the Medicine Cat replied; "I'm just taking a walk myself, but right now there's no room to store any more herbs. But thank you for the offer." Head dipped in respect before quickly shooting back up, ears pricked once again.
A bird had fluttered off in the distance, somewhere around ThunderClan is what Moonshard would guess. They always pranced noisely through the forest, those ridiculous mouse-brains.
A soft silence hung in the air for heartbeats before Moonshard meowed; "How have Darkheart and Blackfang been doing?" In truth, the she-cat no longer cared about those whom she shared blood with, and though she would much rather ignore them it was hard. Tormenting. But no cat could know... so, she never let it trouble her anymore.

Diamondstar knew little to nothing about herbs or medicinal practices done by the medicine cats of ShadowClan. She sat down and began to lick her forepaw. "Both are fine," she murmured. It seemed agonizing not to be in touch with the rest of the cats of the Clan. To only go out into the open if there was a sick cat.
"What brought you out here, Moonshard?" Diamondstar asked, her curiosity rising, "Are there any sick cats in the Clan?" Diamondstar would rather her medicine cat be preventing deaths in the Clan when so many have already perished, than having her medicine cat wander around uselessly as another cat went to join StarClan. Diamondstar stood up lightly without rustling a single leaf and pounced neatly in a bush, dragging a small water vole out in her mouth. "Pardon me, Moonshard," Diamondstar meowed as she killed the small rodent with a sharp bite to the throat, "But there is always room for more freshkill," she gave the medicine cat a small smile before she burried the rodent to pick up later.

"No illness, there are already so few lives in the first place..." The Medicine Cat meowed very softly, as if somewhat annoyed with herself. Recently she had felt useless, because when cats came they always died on the battlefield so quickly and there had been little time to save any lives. All the warriors thought about these days... it was war.
She found it discusting, the way they could fight and fight without reasons to do so. And if there was a reason, it was too vague to have cats shedding their blood for it. Lost in her thoughts as her leader took a moment, she was only brought back by the crunch of the bones as Diamondstar took the creature's life.
With a brisk nod, her white paws began to gently slide through the mud, her shadowy back paws following up with her tail. "Another war is coming. At the Gathering...."

Diamondstar gasped and sighed. She nodded slowly. "Another war?" she meowed softly. She sighed. it was inevitable, and almost impossible to avoid. She planned to bring her best warriors, hoping that Moonshard knew something that no other medicine cat knew. If so, there would be no room for error, and ShadowClan would prevail. "Do the..." Diamondstar began as she watched Moonshard "Did the other medicine cats receive that warning?" she asked, slowly following her medicine cat into the mud.

"I do not walk in the dreams like tales of our ancestors who held that power. Like any warrior, I am but a mortal cat." her paws continued to glide over the surface, with shining eyes glancing back at Diamondstar. "I can tell you not who we will fight, for everything is covered in the scent of blood."
Morbid words left Moonshard's mouth, almost hesitantly. She had always suspected it would be Darkheart to lead battle, as he was very clever at doing such things. Her suspicions were silenced, unspoken thoughts. "Shall we return to camp?"

Diamondstar shook her head. She couldn't believe there would be another fight. So soon after they had lost the lives of many including her previous deputy. She did not wish to fight the other Clans. The black she-cat wanted to build the Clan up so they were strong, but instead, she was just loosing more and more warriors.
"Yes, lets return to the camp," Diamondstar meowed, closing her tired eyes. She let out a sigh and followed Moonshard back through the muddy forest.
As she walked, Diamondstar began pondering a proper group of warriors to take to the gathering. She must take her strongest warriors. But what if the camp was attacked? She sighed in frustration. "Will there be an attack on the ShadowClan camp, Moonshard?" she asked as she ran to catch up with the other she-cat.

"No... the battle is not over territory, for no borders could be broken at a Gathering. I suppose it is something only one who has drawn blood with their claws would understand..." Heaving a gentle sigh, the silvery black she-cat reflected on the life of an apprentice. The troublesome pranks, the longing to be a warrior. She didn't stop, but began to pad more briskly, ears filling with the heat of rage.
It would not have been so hard if Darkheart and Blackfang had not treated her so harshly, making her once even consider leaving. No, she would not understand the faded torment and cries that had echoed through her head as the sky was strained to show her. She felt a soft spot hit on her ear. "Rain..."
